I would love to see you again Glen Campbell, I have ever since I was a little girl had a crush on you and had a huge poster on my wall in my bedroom. I really would love to meet you in person and tell you how much I have been blessed over the years to be able to listen to your music. When kids my age back when I was a teenager they listened to soft rock and hard rock in roll I was listing to you back in the late 60′s up to now. Are you going to make a dvd on your Farewell Tour I sure would love to purchase a copy and a cd of the tour and do you have a program of the tour. Also do you have a tee-shirt with your picture on it with the final tour on the back of the tee-shirt? Please get back to me. MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS YOU ARE IN MY PRAYERS.

YOUR SISTER IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST,

    MELODY

  • Kamkim50

Saw him three times on the Ghost tour. Once “here” in St. Charles with my husband. Then drove to Branson, MO with my 3 youngest sons and saw him there. THEN flew to Milwaukee and saw him with my oldest son. It’s been a “family affair” and I was thrilled to travel to see him.

  • Jfermq

My fingers are crossed Glen can come to Mexico.

  • rhinestonegaucho

@Justin: Yes, we realize that. It’s only natural, however, to hope that Glen might appear someone close to where we’re based. Let’s not fight about it.

Best wishes to the Rhinestone Cowboy, regardless.

  • Justin

here’s an idea for the people who don’t have a show scheduled in their city; with all of these shows through June I’m sure you people that want him to come to you can instead go to him. He’s got enough shows to do as it is.

    • http://www.facebook.com/mike.roy Mike Roy

yea, well if I was rich, I’d be more then happy to go to him, but with the cost of EVERYTHING these days, traveling isn’t always the most financially reasonable option. I saw Glen in August and traveled 4 1/2 hours to see him. It was well worth it, but was expensive. So I’m hoping he comes back to Canada somewhere a little closer this time. We’d love to have him back, but the only close show to where I am is Verona, NY (another 4 hours) and its SOLD-OUT!! So that’s why many people vent for him to come just a little closer. I have no problem traveling to NY State, but can’t if its too far….

  • Kjenkins1985

    Aww!! What about Houston?

  • Jennifer Pytka

No Pittsburgh area????????? Noooooooooo!!! Sececa Casino in New York? Help!!!!!

  • hooterville_mom

Would love to see him in the Kansas City area!

  • Jarvisa

As a child I remember every Sunday night watching the Glen Campbell Hour on TV. Then as a teenager I had almost every Glen Campbell album there was. Actually, I still have those 33 albums, but nothing to play them on. So happy to go down memory lane at the Grammy’s.

  • Ellen

When I was young teenager in Glasgow, Scotland, I used to listen to pirate radio at night on my tiny transistor radio. They played Glen Campbell music almost every hour. His voice touched my heart so much that I vowed to come to the United States and live. Luckily, I met a boy who although it was not his mission, agreed to take the adventure with me. 34 years later, we live in New Jersey, we have raised 2 children, both University graduates, my daughter has modelled and my son is a drummer in a rock and roll band. If that is not living the American Dream I don’t know what is. My birthday was last Saturday. When I opened my card from my husband, 2 tickets for the Glen Campbell concert in Connecticut fell out! It took my breath away! Thank you Mr. Campbell for your beautiful music, I have it on my ipod and your voice still brings tears to my eyes. God bless you and your family, I look forward to seeing you this week.

  • Jcarnpro

I saw you when I was about 13…took up learning to play the guitar because of you! Please come to Pittsburgh, PA on the Goodbye Campaign!!!

What a fantastic tribute for a fantastic performer…..I will never forget it!! I, too, used to watch your show and sing along–wonderful memories. I work at a memory care community in Northeastern Pennsylvania (near Scranton). At Oakwood Terrace, we live in the moment and treasure every smile and sunshine day given to us. Since you will be in the nearby area for the Penn’s Peak concert in April, we would love for you to visit us and share the memories. Thank you again for your kindness. Take care…

My husband and I flew from Denver to Tucson to attend Glen Campbell’s concert there! There were no dates scheduled in Colorado, and we didn’t want to risk missing this final goodbye tour. We had great seats – 3rd row center! The only catch was, in order to reserve the 2 seats we needed on line, we actually were forced to reserve all three remaining seats in that section. The “computer” would not confirm the reservation for 2 seats; it gave us a message that it would not allow only a single seat left open between other seats. Since we were flying to Tucson and spending two nights in a motel, we went ahead and bought all 3 seats, so we could get the seats we wanted. We mentioned this to the box office when we picked up our tickets prior to the show, stating that we had an extra ticket available for sale. It would have been nice to have one more fan able to enjoy this wonderful evening, since it was a sold out show. The concert was fantastic! However, Fox Theater would not allow any photos or videos, stating that it was “Glen Campbell’s rule, not theirs.” I wish I could find out the truth about this issue. If it is truly Glen’s wish to not be filmed, I wish he himself or perhaps one of his 3 choldren would make an announcement. Something like, “Out of respect for my Dad’s wishes, please do not take any photos or video during the performance,” would go a long way. I don’t think any fan with any decency would try to sneak filming if they knew it was honestly Glen’s preference. As it was, nobody really believed Glen cared, with all the videos of this tour out there on YouTube. Perhaps it is distracting to him because of his Alzheimers? At any rate, we were told “You only get one warning.” If we got caught a second time, we would be escorted out of the theater! Thankfully, at least one other person was able to accomplish what we were not; as of today, 2-19, there is one video of this event on YouTube.
Glen, thank you for giving us this final opportunity to see and hear you perform live! I brought a letter I had written and a lapel pin for you; I was able to give them to your daughter Ashley. I hope you like them. My prayers are with you. Keep Jesus in your heart always!

  • Keith & Rosemary Davis

My wife and I were at your concert in Phoenix last night. Glen, your children are wonderful musicians, singers, and entertainers. Thank you for this tour. I am so happy to finally see you in person. It was a wonderful concert. You sang and played beautifully. Brought back a lot of memories. I am 57, my Dad had a lot of your early records and played them all the time. I grew up listening to you and watching your show. God bless you. Harmony, peace, and healing to you. Keith and Rosemary.

  • Balfourgrl2

Please come to Portland,OR or Eugene, OR!!

  • AP

We too have just returned from the Phoenix concert. If there are two things you do this year they should be to buy Ghost on the Canvas and see this show. Just like Lori said his children are part of the backing band and to have him be able to spend his last tour with his children backing him has got to be the best memory those children will ever have. And I am sure Glen deeply feels the specialness of these moments. It was just an amazing night. When he finished up with A Better Place I can’t imagine there was a dry eye in the house. Even Glen was wiping tears from his eyes. Thank you Glen for everything over the years and thank you for tonight. Peace and Love…

  • Js90

Are you coming to Houston, Texas ?

  • Lori

Just returned from Glen’s Phoenix concert; the man still has hands on that guitar… he’s a legend, he’s a gentle giant, he’s a fabulous entertainer. The hour-and-a-half flew by entirely too fast; the two encore numbers helped make up for that! The opening band, “Instant People” was a wonderful segway into the concert… partially because it included his three wonderful, musically gifted, beautiful children.

Glen, you’ve been one of my favorite singers since my way-back-when days growing up in New Mexico in the ’60s. Thank you for being you, for being the wonderful, amazing entertainer — and God Speed!

I saw Glen in Houston, I believe it was my 6th birthday. My parents had given me a choice, a birthday party with prurience, family and presents OR a trip to Houston to see Glen Campbell! It was an easy choice for this little girl! My mom wrote a letter with a request for the best possible tickets. They answered her request with front row seats! I remember my sister taking me to stand outside of his dressing room hoping to get a close up glance of my favorite star. She held me on her shoulders as he was rushed pass us. I couldn’t believe I was that close to him! My mom remembers when he came out to perform, she never thought her excitement would measure up to mine. But it did,she said “Damn he’s pretty!”.
That was 42 years ago. We now live in Midland Texas and I will get to celebrate my 48th birthday seeing Glen Campbell in concert! I am beyond excited, thrilled!!!! I cannot wait to see him!
Thank you for all the wonderful memories, I could go on and on!

nothing after June. I have an AWESOME picture in my mind of Glen singing at The 12th Annual Worst Golf Tournament to raise money for the Alzheimers Association on the Naval Base of Oceana in Virginia Beach, VA. What do we need to do to make this happen ALL in the name of putting ALZHEIMERS front and center and putting an END to this AWFUL disease.

  • Steve

Sounded great tonight at the Grammy Awards, come to Long Island Please!

  • Laurieannwhite

I’d love to take my dad to see Mr. Campbell but the closest venue is 3 1/2 hours drive. Does anyone know if more dates will be added? Baltimore or DC is sorely missing from this list!

    • Michaelcsanders2011

FYI: I don’t know if more dates will be added, but if you’re looking at the Jim Thorpe show, you will be in for a real treat. The town is absolutely beautiful and the venue is among my favorites. It is well worth the 3 1/2 hour drive. It’s not in a city or anything, rather backwoods roads until you stumble upon the town. The Inn at Jim Thorpe is a great place to stay and it’s like 4 miles from the venue. I would highly, highly encourage you to check it out. Grab your tickets on Stubhub soon…because it’s sold out.

One of my favorite Jimmy Webb stories –

Jimmy had sent Glen a new number entitled “Witchita Lineman” for review and comments. Sometime later, Glen had called Jimmy seeking some new material in which Jimmy asked Glen what he had thought of that “Witchita Lineman” number he had previously sent. Glen said he liked it so much he recorded it. Jimmy then informed Glen that the song had not been completed. Glen said, “it is now”!

Someone please get this information to Glen Campbell:

ScienceDaily (Feb. 9, 2012) — Neuroscientists at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine have made a dramatic breakthrough in their efforts to find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. The researchers’ findings, published in the journal Science, show that use of a drug in mice appears to quickly reverse the pathological, cognitive and memory deficits caused by the onset of Alzheimer’s. The results point to the significant potential that the medication, bexarotene, has to help the roughly 5.4 million Americans suffering from the progressive brain disease.

Bexarotene has been approved for the treatment of cancer by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for more than a decade. These experiments explored whether the medication might also be used to help patients with Alzheimer’s disease, and the results were more than promising.

Alzheimer’s disease arises in large part from the body’s inability to clear naturally-occurring amyloid beta from the brain. In 2008 Case Western Reserve researcher Gary Landreth, PhD, professor of neurosciences, discovered that the main cholesterol carrier in the brain, Apolipoprotein E (ApoE), facilitated the clearance of the amyloid beta proteins. Landreth, a professor of neurosciences in the university’s medical school, is the senior author of this study as well.

Landreth and his colleagues chose to explore the effectiveness of bexarotene for increasing ApoE expression. The elevation of brain ApoE levels, in turn, speeds the clearance of amyloid beta from the brain. Bexarotene acts by stimulating retinoid X receptors (RXR), which control how much ApoE is produced.

We’ve attended practically every Glen Campbell show in the Las Vegas, Laughlin NV area over the past decade – front row regulars Glen was always a fun show for us as we sung along. First saw Glen live at the first Farm Aid concert September 22, 1985, although Kris Kristofferson was in attendance amongst a long hall of fame lineup of musical talent, Glen instead of Kris sang the Highwayman along with Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings – Still having the televised video of the event I sure hope Glen stops in our area and plays the Highwayman one last time to quench our tearful memories of a legend moving into the shadows of time.

  • Brett Mills

It’s been fun, and you’ve been a blessing to us all. Now, you deserve to have the time of your life with Kim and your children. I will pray for you and your family. Thanks much for all you’ve done for us. You are truly a global treasure. Thanks for the comfort of your music over the years, and for helping us to cope. I know the road has had a lot of bumps you won’t complain about. That’s you with God’s grace. Bless you, Mr. Campbell.

Is there any chance you are adding a few more dates to the tour??? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. DFW wants you to play. Can’t play Texas and not play Dallas or Cowtown! It would be such a pleasure and an honor to see the one of the greatest(if not the greatest) country singers of all time. I have always wanted to see Glen my entire life. I grew up listening to your music and my husband loves you too. We introduced your music to our son who started listening to it in front of friends when he was young and still likes it now at 17. God be with you. You are such a talent and so special to so many people!! Thank you for the wonderful music and fabulous years

  • Sandysignorello

I understand this tour,my heart goes out! what I don’t undestand I can’t send a message? When I was 5yrs.you and my father saved my life! My father said I would meet him some day, “If it’s the last thing he did”. They brought a phono in the hospital room to comfort me, I always woke up with a new album laying by my head. I did do better and my father past, but not without the promise/wish. I still have the phono and all the albulms, but I still believe in dreams. Glen Campbell my Mammaw dancing with with me till she was 93. I’m showing my age! He use to rap me in a blanket and hold me to watch your show.
In the 90′s I went to the Monroe County Fair in MI. and My husband thought I was crazy!!! The Statler Brothers were there and I wanted something special for my mother! CRAZY as I was they realized I wasn’t ? They knew I had their biggest fan. I told them I had the “OLD & NEW Testement”, and gave them each word by word”. My mother was dieing of CANCER, They sang 3 oncores and gave me a news paper, stateing: “Stay behind”! They took my mother and gave her the best 10/20mins. of her life. She never stopped talking about it. They followed up with a package of all cool things for her, but I sent them a sincer thank you but had to tell them that she had past on. I still have those things. I always adrmired you Mr. Campbell and all those who love you. I am myself fighting cancer and was hoping my fathers wish would come true someday. I never thought I’d be 50. But in any case I wish you and your family nothing but peace and God’s Love, I’l keep you all in my prayers.Thank you for the memories!!!
P.S. I still can listen to my phono.
    Yours sincerely,
    Sandy

No one can measure the shock or dismay at being told they have Alzheimer’s Disease, unless it happens to them, or a loved one. My mother died from it in 2006, at age 86. My siblings and I still miss her. Thank you, Glen, for the joy of your fine music and memories of your television shows. Of all your wonderful songs, I guess “Galveston” will always be my favorite. I send my blessings.

My parents owned the Crater of Diamonds and we spent many nights at your Dad Birthday parties in his home. Hey Glen- We saw you at the Ryman in Nashville on January 3rd and the concert was so incredible that we drove 400 miles and saw you again at Diamond Jack’s in Bossier City, LA on January 14th! The folks at Diamond Jack’s told us that you’re the first concert there to sell out. Of course, we’re not surprised. We’re very glad you have your kids in the band. They are so talented and certainly add a lot to the show. As a singer and guitar player, you continue to inspire me. We also love your new CD, and wish you great success on your tour. Even if someone has to ride a mule through wind, rain, snow and briar patches to see you, they should get to your concert. God Bless You, Glen!

It is very sad that “Glen Campbell” is leaving the one thing he loves so very much. I had seen him awhile back in Branson at the “Andy Williams Theater” and did meet his oldest daughter “Debbie” at resturant across the street. She had come over sat down with us in a both talked for a little while waiting on her food order. I had just bought a CD of his in which he signed for us I play that one even yet 10 years later. I’m trying for tickets at the “Comerica Theater” in Phoenix, Az. where I now live. Wish Glenn, and family the very best through this road ahead. God Bless!

Thanks for the good times and great work. I saw you on tv, I think it was the Dick Cavett show in Sept. of 1968, I was 12 years old at the time. You played Wichita Lineman and the crowd went absolutely wild. To me and many others you brought country music into the modern era. Also your performance in True Grit with John Wayne was outstanding……..Maybe they can put that performance on your web site, ( the Cavet show performance and True Grit ). Also your performance singing Any Which Way you Can in the Clint Eastwood movie.

    Thanks for the good times

You made me want to play guitar when I saw you on TV some 40 years ago. After seeing you at the Kent Stage tonight, I came home and played for an hour. Your playing and singing had a huge influence on me and so many others. Your vocals on “Witchita Lineman” and “Galveston” were simply remarkable. You and Jimmy Webb were a match made in heaven. What’s best: you’ve left a legacy of talented children that share so many of the traits I admire in you. They are witty, stunning, sincere, and oh so gifted (I can’t remember seeing five-part harmony that was so tight). Know that your gifts will live on long after this tour comes to a close. Thank you, thank you for sharing your gifts with us tonight in Ohio.

Got the privilage of seeing Glen Campbell at the Kent Stage tonight. What a wonderful show! His guitar playing is just amazing and his vocals were still enough to take you back. I shed a few tears when he sang Wichita Lineman, the first song I heard him sing when I was in high school. I think I wore out my 45! My mom bought me an album for Christmas, and I loved him ever since that. Glen you are in my heart forever! Thanks for doing this tour. Seeing you do this with your children made it even more special.

  • Alan Goldsmith

Saw the show in Ann Arbor last night at the Folk Festival. Stunning! It was a nice performance, an emotional evening for the sold out crowd and Glen’s guitar solos were breathtaking. Thanks for making Ann Arbor a stop on this tour.

    • Davrox

Hello – How long was his set and does he have an opener?
      Thanx from Ohio

      • Mike D.

For the Joliet show, Glen’s back-up band Instant People (includes his 3 kids) opened with a terrific 20 minute set of original songs.
After a 20 minute intermission, Glen did a 20 song set lasting about 75 minutes, backed by Instant People and music director T.J. Kuenster.
        It was all outstanding.

  • Gordon Speake

Last evening, I saw the show in Joliet, Il. What an emotional & completely enjoyable experience it was. Growing up with Glen Campbell’s hits, it surely took me back many years. I do not remember a more fulfilling evening in a long time. If you shut your eyes, you would be back in the, ‘Hits,’ days. Glen Campbell has not missed a beat. His range is as wide as ever, as is his yodeling & master guitar playing. God bless you, Glen Campbell.

  • Robert Mroczek

    Mr. Campbell,
My wife and I had the privilege to see your Friday show at the Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet. I have listened to your music as long as I can remember but never saw you in concert. I was blown away! Your voice, playing, and showmanship are all stellar examples of what entertainers should aspire to. The fact that your family tours and plays with you is also inspirational! I hope you have as much joy in your life as you bring to your fans…and I hope the Goodbye Tour goes on indefinitely! Thank you and God bless you!!! Bob Mroczek

  • http://www.scottandassociatesoftexas.com/ Bill Scott

Glen Campbell performed in Houston this month and performed like The Great Entertainer that he is. The new songs from Ghost on a Canvas were excellent and the songs of yesteryear brough back many a tear. I also saw Glen Campbell in Stafford, Texas about 6 months ago from the 2nd to the last row of the balcony, but at the Arena Theatre we were 4th row!

I greatly admire that Glen though in the midst of a devestating disease, continues to do what he loves by performing and playing with his family on stage. My struggles with my own auto immune disease had brough me to be greatly inspired by the way Glen is living his life by taking on these performances and continuing to live.

As I was on a business trip last week to LA walking back to my hotel in the rain I was on the sidewalk with the Stars and came upon Glen Cambells Star in Hollywood!

    Bill in Houston

  • Kim Anderson

I’m so pleased and fortunate to have seen Glen and his fantastic show at the Pabst in Milwaukee. I ditto everything everyone is saying. Thank you Glen for blessing us with one more tour. You have graced and fulfilled my music void for a lifetime. Blessings to you and your family. Kim

  • Laura Bonum

Caught a GREAT show last Friday!! Glen & his entire band are LOADED with talent.

I was fortunate enough to meet Glen, his family and some of band. They are all kind, genuine people. His wife, Kim is incredible. She was very tolerant of my wanting an autograph & a picture. She even took the picture for me. It’s no wonder their children are such super people. Band members Siggy & Josh and Glen’s manger, Bill are also fantastic people…and fun to be around.

Glen performed like Glen. He was FABULOUS!! Lineman was my favorite but I especially enjoyed Dueling Banjos. Ashley was on the banjo & Glen on the guitar. The whole show was outstanding. I wish I could re-live that entire day.

If you have an opportunity to see Glen in concert, don’t hold back fearing you’ll see him struggle. You won’t. Don’t miss out.

    Laura

    • RuthM

How did you get to meet Glen? I’ve wanted to meet him since I was a teenager in the late 60′s early 70′s!

I saw Glen in Houston on jan 13 2011.What a magical night and Glen never sounded better. When Glen started picking and singing the years and illness reversed time by decades. I am a 53 year old Texican who does not cry but I teared up in that concert it was so special to see and hear Glens golden voice in person. What a night !! Thanks for some great new memories Glen. Friday the 13th,2012 was a lucky day for me as I went with my son to the Arena Theatre in Houston to see Glen Campbell’s show.I’m 66 so I remember Glen’s TV show and many of his songs very well, but I had never been had the privilege of seeing him on stage.Seeing him perform Dueling Banjos with his daughter on banjo was awesome.

My 42 year old son loves to sing and play guitar but he wasn’t aware of Mr.Campbell’s abilities as a performer. He told me after the show how very much he enjoyed it.He also liked the opening band with Glen’s daughter and sons who then are in Glen’s band along with his keyboard player of many years.

As another fan has written about one of his shows this January, this was a show we will never forget. If you have the chance to see and hear Glen Campbell DON’T MISS HIM.I already do and would love to go to his Austin gig while I’m here visiting Texas.

I wish the fans back home in Pittsburgh would get a chance to have him honor them with his fabulous show.

    Mr. Glen Campbell,
Your music has always been great to sing to. Some of my best memories in life are going on road trip vacations and listening to my dad sing and all of us. When girls would ask what kind of music I liked I’d say something like “usually rock and roll, but some country like Glen Campbell, Willie Nelson, and those guys.” You really are excellent at putting people into your scene you create.
Healthwise, I’d just like to mention how fasting may help you. Read up on it. It is very effecient at clearing the mind and helping it strengthen. My father is fighting the same fight and I watch firsthand how drinking fresh juice from those juicers help him. Anyway, just thought I’d pass it along. I’d like to see you get healthy enough to swing back around to Fort Worth in the near future. Take care.

    A Fort Worth Fan

    Glen,

I met you at country radio station KVET in Austin–1985. You were finishing an interview and I was about to go on the air. People ask me, “who was the coolest star you’ve ever met”, and I always answer back, “Glen Campbell”.

    God Bless Brother!

    Dear Glen Campbell,
An addendum to my last letter to you-(posted under Discography)
After reading many reviews/comments on your recent Farewell Tour from your other fans, and viewing numerous YouTube videos, I wanted more than ever to see you perform live one last tme!
Since we didn’t get an answer to whether or not you will be coming to Colorado,my dear husband and I decided to make the trip to Tucson, Arizona. We’ll be flying there from Denver the day before your concert and staying over 2 nights.
Please, I (we) would love to finally meet you, after all these years!
Would it be possible to arrange to have you autograph my CD booklet, “Show Me Your Way”, my copy of your biography, “Rhinestone Cowboy,” and my album cover, “Galveston?”
It would mean so much to me! These 3 items are important to me because:
“Galveston”-My absolute favorite recording from my teenage years’ crush on you. Still love your voice.
“Show Me Your Way”-Contains your beautiful song, “Jesus and Me.” I was wo thankful to learn of your coming to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
“Rhinestone Cowboy”-Have not read yet; just ordered it. Reading reviews, I’m sure I’ll be interested, somewhat saddened by your poor life choices and falling away from our Lord, but I’ll rejoice with you that found your way back to Jesus! Keep Him in your heart always!
Looking forward to seeing you in concert in February! Hoping to have that chance to meet you!
    Love in Christ, RuthM

I had the great honor of attending my first show Saturday in Milwaukee and was BLOWN AWAY. Your voice and guitar playing was better than I could have imagined. Instant People was great too, giving it all a very contempoary feel (they reminded me a little of the Kings of Leon except without any obvious metal influence). But between the music, performance and, yes, human drama of the reality of the situation, this was the most enjoyable, moving and edgy show I’ve been to in a long, long time. I guess the Bob Dylan Christian shows in 1980 come to mind. THANK YOU GLEN AND FAMILY!!

We saw you in Milwaukee at the Pabst theater last night January 21, 2012. You and your band were wonderful. We were in the front row and it was an honor to see you and how you interacted with the band and your three children. They have incredible talent and harmonize beautifully together. You are truly blessed. Thank you for sharing your gift with us last night and for a lifetime. Kim

I have to agree with other posts, It was one of the best concerts I’ve seen and hope the rest of his tour goes really well for him.

I saw the shreveport show in Louisiana .. I truely did enjoy THe concert one of the best in my life.. Glen Campbell has a very strong voice dispite the sound wasn’t helping him much…He doesn’t use alot of affects because he is a real entertainer..I didn’t hear any help on his voice or guitar..He is and always will be one of the best vocalist/guitarist/icon.. EVER…Seeing is believing…

My husband & I saw Glen in Houston on last Friday, January 13th. We thoroughly enjoyed his show. It was wonderful to see his 3 grown and very talented children play in his band. So I am so glad that I was able to see him at the Ryman & retrace much of my life thru his melody. I had forgotten how timely & representative of the times all his songs were. He gave us the American Experience.

All Canadians asking for Glen to come to Canada (he did), you can still see him. I just travelled from Canada to New York City to see him. Well worth the trip. What a show! THE BEST! You can catch him again near the border – in Verona, New York in April. I’ll be going back to see him again.

    • Ronfowlermusic

That’s nice, Mark, but not everyone can travel that far. Hope Glen gets in a few Canadian dates for his friends in the Great White North.

yes, I’d like Glen to come to Canada again. I caught the Toronto show traveling from Ottawa, and it was well worth it. Should no new Canadian dates show up, the Verona one looks promising and well worth it. Despite that horrid disease, he’s still got it. True legend.

I so look forward to seeing you, Glen, in Shelton, WA. I had my first crush, on you, back when I was 10, seeing you in True Grit and your weekly show, you were so kind, talented and handsome. I loved watching you then and always have since.
Strangely, I married a man, nearly 30 years ago, that has struggled with many of the same issues as you. It’s uncanny, but we too look ahead to our future, leaning on our faith. Good luck to you and your family. I can’t wait to see you.

It would be simply wonderful to see this legend again (I’ve seen him in New Zealand, UK and Canada).

Please book a show in Atlantic City, South Jersey-Philadelphia fans want to see you.

We were privileged to see Glen perform last night in Houston and are thrilled with the experience. His voice holds true and his guitar solos are still inspiring. His young band is very complimentary to his talents and very capable of pleasing an audience on their own. The set includes all the expected great hits and is fast paced and energetic. If I had one wish I would ask for Gentle On My Mind to be the encore song even though it was presented earlier in the show. The final number was poignant and appropriate but I would have left even more pumped with Gentle On My Mind echoing in my memory. We are considering seeing Glen in Austin at the Austin Rodeo. Does anyone know if that will be a complete show or an abbreviated one? Thanks for the fun evening.

  • AramburuVA

So glad that my husband and I saw Glen Campbell in NYC on 1/7/12. The show was fantastic and very touching and moving. It was worth the cost of train, hotel and tickets to get to see Glen Campbell. I will never forget the memories. It also inspired me to purchase “Ghost on the Canvas” and Glen Campbell’s Greatest Hits. Thanks.

  • Ihilani

Wish Glen could come to Idaho Falls,Idaho!

    • jimwebb

I see he’s in Lewiston in March (4th, I think)

Why isnt Glens show in St. Charles Missouri on September on there? Please post it! Im afraid it will be cancelled due to low ticket sales. Thanks :)

  • ChrisCharpentier

Hi Mr. Campbell, I was so happy to be able to attend the Worcester concert last night. I just wanted to let you know how much your music has meant to me and how much I enjoyed last night. I met you after a NYC show with Jimmy Webb at Feinstein’s, you patiently autographed my 3 CDs and acted like I was the only person in the room. I have never met a more generous artist. Please know that you are constantly thought of and prayed for.

  • Robertjennifer

Hi Mr. Campbell! My wife and I traveled to NY City last weekend and were blessed to be at your concert. I grew up listening and watching you as a young lad. My wife and I were the ones waving at you in your van at the traffic light as you left the Town Hall. We’re looking forward to seeing you in Verona in April. Only 30 minutes vs 5 hours. We saw Jimmy Web a few weeks before your show, which was really neat. You both talked much about each other so nicely. I really enjoyed when your kids sang Hey Little One, it was great. Glen, we’re holding you up in prayer and giving thanks for how the Lord has used you over the years.
It would be nice if my wife and I could meet you in Verona on April 20th. Blessings to you all in Christ Jesus!

  • Abiern1

My wife Sandra and I attended your 1/11/12 concert at the Hanover Theater in Worcester MA. Seeing you and hearing your wonderful songs brought back many memories for us both. Your vocals were great and your guitar playing was exceptional as always. In the 1969/1970 timeframe, when we were dating, I use to bring a few favorite LPs along to friends homes and the “Wichita Lineman” LP was one we all particularly enjoyed at the time. We wish you continued success with your current tour and, of course, much health and happiness along the way.

  • Jmiller

Attended the performance last night at the Hanover Theater in Worcester MA. I brought my Dad who has Alzhiemer’s- It was such a good time for our family!! To see Glenn on stage with his 2 sons and his daughter was a treat. It was awesome to see a master at his craft and to watch him doing what he created to do. Glenn thanks for letting us ride along with you as you live your life fully, courageously, and with grace.

  • Warrenem

We want you to come to Colorado! Any chance? It’s not on the schedule.:(

    • BB

I just saw him last Saturday night at Town Hall in NYC …he sang just about all his big hits ! He opened with Gentle On My Mind….he was great and his three children are also awesome musicians and singers !!! what a legacy Glen is leaving behind !!

  • Ekaylor98

Why arent you able to buy tickets for certain places?

    • Timseidenstricker

tickets might not be on sale yet for certain dates.

      • Ekaylor98

Thanks, Sorry i am just really excited and dont want to miss it!

  • Jim Celentano

Saw him at Town Hall in NYC last night. His voice was strong, and he can still play great guitar. Thee of his children make up most of his band, and as tight as any band I’ve ever seen. It was a pleasure to see the kids embrace their Father’s awesome talent, and chemistry between them is awesome. Don’t miss this potential last chance to see this legend, while he’s still very much on his game.

  • Marty judge

saw him last night in nyc, outstanding! his guitar playing is matched by nobody, his voice is smooth as ever, his children are in the band, and he was funny in between songs reminiscing about so many memories. and the courage to do all this while dealing with early Alzheimer’s is so brave, find a tour date and do not miss this musical god.

  • Corey

My parents are big Glen Campbell fans and my sister and I got them tickets for Christmas for the Bloomington, IL show on Jan. 19th. It was really the only gift that I was actually excited about giving this Christmas. Well, my father had a heart attack and died early Friday morning. We are all heart-broken but my mom still wants to go to the concert. It’s going to be really hard for her but she knows how much dad loved his music. I was just wondering if anyone knows how to contact someone to maybe get Mr. Campbell to dedicate “Gentle On My Mind” to my dad during the show. Thanks for any help.

Just saw him at Town Hall in NYC last night. This was an event!! He is every bit the fantastic performer he ever was. His band including his three youngest played with him and was such a treat. Can’t wait to see him again on this his last tour. We will miss him. Truly one of the greats.

  • Judy Holman

The concert Mar 22 in Clearwater is sold out, they added a new show on the 21st. There arent’ many left there either. I went fishing today and by 6 tonight the really good seats were gone. They only went on sale at noon today. Wow, I’m glad he is selling out. But…. I wish I had a better seat.

  • Steve L.

Going to see Glen in April!!! Can’t wait!!!

  • Katherina Swank

I am goint to see Glen Campbell on January 30th at the Kent Stage in Kent Ohio. Hoping to see a good show.

  • Anonymous

I am soooo bummed that I missed the Nashville show. I hope I can still get tickets for Jackson MS show to see Glen. I have never seen him before and I hate the idea of never getting to see him. A true, American icon!

    • Judy Holman

If you have never seen Glen perform you have to go!

  • Scotty

I just found out this very minute that you will be sneakin’ in at The Iridium in NYC for the early show with your old pal Jimmy Webb. I can’t make it although it’s a second home for me and I won a Les Paul there this past Halloween and was there New Years Eve. You see, there is a football game on tonight that you might be aware of. It’s a little thing called the Cotton Bowl. Being from Kansas, there are a bunch of us misplaced Kansans here in NYC all getting together to watch our Kansas State Wildcats roast your Arkansas Razorbacks. We all love a good pig roastin’. Sorry I missed ya’, enjoy your reunion and come back REAL soon. Hope we can still be friends!

    • Judy

      football over Glen? hmmm

  • Bob G.

My wife and I were at the alzheimer’s benefit in Maryville…….Glen and Instant People were outstanding……we’re going to see him again for a few of the Florida shows coming up in March

  • Bakinsoder

Is there an opening act at his recent shows?

    • Karen

In at least one of his recent concerts, his children’s band (“Instant People”, If I remember correctly) opened for him, It was an Alzheimer’s benefit concert, so may not have been the norm. When we saw him in KY in September they played back-up and filled in during his brief break, but no opening act. They are very talented and his daughter, Ashley, who is a whiz on the banjo, played a duet with her dad (“Dueling Banjos”). FANTASTIC!!

    • Vicki Romine Schaefer

Instant People open the show, as well as back Glen up!

  • Claudia

Glen’s goodbye concert in Huntington WV last night was pure magic – his singing, his children, his wonderful attitude were joyful and uplifting! God bless you and your family, Glen!

  • Denise DeHeer

Please come to Missouri!!!!! xoxoxo +

Glen- Your show last night at the Ryman was incredible!! The band, and your kids, are fabulous! I’m also a picker and singer and drove up from Memphis both times. Drove back last night listening to your new CD. It’s great! Now I’m bringing my sweetie from Dallas to see you in Bossier City on Jan 14th. We’re So excited! It’s worth driving all the way across America to see you in concert. You’re just the best, Glen! God Bless You! -

  • Bob Bowers

We made the second trip to the Ryman. The frist show was Changed to last night fromd Dec. We live in Ohio and it is about a 6.5 hour drive. Boy was it worth it you were GREAT and you should be so proud of your children , The evening was well worth the return trip to Nashville and the Ryman.

  • Richard

WOW!!!!…we brought our 6 year old son to the Ryman show last night – yet another generation Glen…your music, your performance – absolutely incredible…our hair was “tingley” too!!!!!

Glen — are we ever going to be able to get “Oh Happy Day” on CD?

    • cynicaloldme

      Hi from the UK, Carol
‘Oh Happy Day’ is track 15 on ‘The Glen Campbell Collection (1962-1989)’ from Razor & Tie Entertainment of New York.

      • Carol

Thx to all who answered my question about “Oh Happy Day” — I found it on the Glen Campbell Collection @ Amazon — I appreciate it !!!!

    • cynicaloldme

Back again. Here’s a link for Amazon.
      http://www.amazon.com/Collection-1962-89-Glen-Campbell/dp/tracks/B000002ZDA/ref=dp_tracks_all_1#disc_1
I think, without looking, ‘Oh Happy Day’ was on ‘The Glen Campbell Album’ – white cover with a pencil drawing. I had it for Xmas 1971 – the first of many (them all, in fact). I’ve no idea why this album was never out on CD as it was one of his best.
There is also a DVD set available called ‘Glen Campbell and Friends’ which was a 6 part series by BBC TV back in 1975. I believe Glen sings this song in there somewhere although it could have been on a TV program he made a year earlier which was never re-released. Sorry to be unsure.
On that earlier program he duetted with Carl Jackson on Duelling Banjos which, in today’s language, was simply awesome. In fact, Glen on that show was his historic best and the whole thing was incredible.
      Oh happy days!

A few years ago, I combed YouTube for recent Glen Campbell performances. I’m listening to one of them right now, and Glen is singing and playing the bagpipes. It’s one of many Amazing performances I’ve been lucky enough to hear by this great singer and musician over 40 years or so, and whenever I hear this one, it brings tears to my eyes. Good Luck Glen, and I’m looking forward to seeing you live for the first time in Shelton, Washington this coming March. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us.

Love you Glen and Happy New Year to you and all the Campbells. Maybe you can add Forth Worth or Dallas to the schedule so I can see you one last time.

I traveled from Tucson to meet my sister from Lubbock so we could see Glen perform with his band! Lots of standing ovations- lots of toe tapping and singing in the audience! He has a love for the music that transcends to his fans! It was fun to see hear his children playing so beautifully as well! The place was sold out-as was the new CD! Hope to see him in Tucson again in February! Thanks for sharing your music Glen!

Glen Campbell still Rocks!!! Seeing & hearing Glen last night in Ruidoso, NM was the best birthday present I’ve even had.
Thank you Glen for sharing your music with us one last time. I’ll never forget the wonderful night of music…and your children &teh entire band were incredible! It was an honor to be there.

  • Sheila

It was wonderful to have a chance to see Glen last night in Ruidoso, New Mexico (came up from Albuquerque). It was a lovely concert – his children did a great job performing one of his songs — still an amazing guitar player — just don’t make them like Glen anymore. Thank you for all the wonderful music!

  • Jay

It was an honor to be able to see Glen last night in New Mexico. Glen, as everyone else, was uncomfortable due to the lack of air conditioning, but provided everyone with a wonderful evening of music regardless. Glen’s vocal range is still incredible and he can still tear up the fretboard at will. It was a beautiful evening, Glen. Thank you.

  • Peggy

The show was awesome! Glen impressed me with his classic hits and his new CD is so touching! A must see for anyone who is dealing with dementia and etc. Who ever thought of doing this keeping his family and music together need commended…the best thing a family could ever do for their loved one!

  • Jbodo

Something is wrong here. We spent a $140 to see Glenn at the Keith Albee in December-he cancelled due to laryngistis. It was a $1,000 out of pocket to be there for the tour. What can you do for us at the Melbourber, Fla. appearance. John and Linda plus our two guests, Jane and Steve.

Just saw Glen’s concert in Branson on Dec. 3. It is a DO NOT MISS concert. There are a few changes, but he still has the voice and no one compares to his guitar skills. A few years ago we saw him in Honolulu with the Symphony Orchestra there. He was, as always, terrific!! Played “Classical Gas” on a 12-string guitar – holding it over his head. It’ll be a long time before we see a talent like his. Maybe his sons and daughters can carry it on.

After learning of his battle with Alzheimer’s, i’m afraid that he won’t be able to do many more shows. As much as this breaks my heart, i know he has done everything he can for his fans. I offer this prayer, Please God, do not take away his hands, fingers, and ability to strum a guitar. Leave him with the peace that an acoustic guitar with the notes and chords give him. Let him play till you come to take him to play for you. Amen

Not a good experience for everyone that was suppose to see the Dec 5 show. Called Monday morning before we left Birmingham to see if the show was still on and we were told that it would be as scheduled. Got to Nashville after driving most of the way in pouring rain. Called again to find out what time the doors would be open as we needed to pick up our tickets. We drove from our motel to the auditorium in heavy rain to learn that the show had been cancelled. I suspect that they knew well in advance that the show was going to be cancelled. Sorry that Glen wasn’t able to perform but it was the way that the ticket office handled the cancellation which is the most upsetting. Will not going back on 01/03/12.

We came to Nashville from Austin, Tx. to see Glen tonight at the Ryman. My husband is a wonderful musician and claims he was first inspired by Glen. We have fifth row tickets, I will be with my husband, we will be seeing Glen Campbell……The only thing that could make this day any better is If Glen would play Country Boy. That is the song that Chris my husband would play over and over on his little 45 recored player. Thank you Glen for all the wonderful memories.

I am confused about the Florida tour dates. I see on Glen’s website he will be at Silver Springs, FL on February 11 and again on March 24th. However, not sure if Feb 11th date is still a good date. Does anyone know if there will be two shows in Silver Springs?

Linda J. I have all of your albums from the 1960′s and still play them regularly (yes, real vinyl records, people!). My sister bought me your “Try A Little Kindness” album for my 18th birthday, which is a true classic, and now, for my 60th, I am going to make one of your final concerts. I LOVE your singing, and am very much looking forward to that concert. Take care.

  • Pat

Thank you for your music. Really enjoyed the show in Aberdeen. All the very best for your retirement

I was at glens concert in Edinburgh as i could not manage to get tickets for Glasgow show. I loved the show from beginning to end..it was terrific watching a true music legend. I just wanted to say thanks for the beautiful songs which you sang..songs which i had been brought up with in the house as a kid..it was marvellous to actually get the opportunity to listen to this music giant singing songs which will for me last forever gently on my mind..in the meantime im going to try and source tickets for the glasgow show..and my only regret is not going to see glen in the early eighties with my mother in law when i had the chance.

  • Jody Radel

Glen Campbell is simply the best as what he does and I don’t believe there will be anybody anytime soon who will even come close to the genius of Glen Campbell. Long live Glen Campbell

Really enjoyed tonights Edinburgh show, what a great night!

  • Bryan Jernigan

    Glen:

I was born in Arkansas and raised 35 miles from Jimmy Webb’s hometown of Elk City, OK! I sure do wish you could come to Washington, DC in 2012! Loved watching your television show when I was a kid. Good luck on the tour and thanks so much for the years of good-time music!

  • Eric

I hope Phoenix is added to the list. You have too many friends here to skip it!

  • Pamdowd

Hey, Glenn–I thought that you looked great on the Ellen Show and your voice was as great as ever! Congratulations on getting the award from CMA! You most certainly deserved it. I watched a few minutes of the program, but since it was a show that my husband never missed, it was to hard to watch. After having watched him die from cancer, I know that I would prefer to have Alzheimer’s. Not easy, but a gentler way to go. I know that so many advances have been made, I wish you the best. If you come to Tulsa, I will definitely come to see you. I no longer go to concerts, but yours would be an exception. Take care and I hope that you enjoy your tours! I used to watch the Glenn Campbell show, without fail. My mother and I thought that you were so handsome! I later watched the show with my husband. So, I’ve been a long time fan!

    Take care,

    Pam Dowd

Glen, My name is Delane Chatham. I was your brother Geralds neighbor at Trinity River Lake Estates in Clark Texas. I knew your mom and dad and watched you fish in the lake. I have enjoyed your singing and loved your family very much. My prayers are with you and may God hold you in his hands.

    Mr. Campbell,

A short note to let you know I am thinking of you! I had the opportunity to
meet you in Greensboro, North Carolina back in the 1970′s. We met at
the Greater Greensboro Open Golf Tournament in Greensboro, North Carolina.
I was introduced to you by a mutual friend, Mr. Dave Stockton.
Dave won the “Glen Campbell” Los Angeles Open Golf Tournament in 1974.
I have always admired you, your outstanding music and your contributions to
    the Game of Golf!

It was an honor to meet you in Greensboro. I will always remember your
kindness, just as you have said many times in your famous song,
“Try a Little Kindness.” You have always been a very special entertainer and
above all, an extremely special person. Your song moto has always been with
me – “If you are kind, and treat people kind, you will be treated in kind.”

    Kindest regards,

    David B.

The last two comments …just another example of what is going wrong with this country. Mean spirited and self serving.
God Bless you Glen… you have a big fan here.

  • Maryvirgo

I think you should go be with your family then going on tour and gobbling up more money from people for tickets. Especially when people are hurting so bad. With all the money you have made throughout the years, you should give back and give free concerts.

    • D.B.

(Maryvirgo) are an idiot, to say the least! Maybe you should consider giving your
assets to someone in need. Although, as dumb as the comment was written, I’m sure
you have nothing to give – another than a stupid comment to a very ill individual.
Try going out into the world and find something free of charge. You may find your ignorant
advice is about the only thing that is “free,” as no one would consider compensating you
      for your intelligence!

Its hard to see you doing a Goodbye tour when I have never been able to meet you. I’ve got to hear you over my moms phone when you came home to do a concert in Delight AR. (or in the Area of). I have also got a album or two of your songs. We are very distant cousins my moms last name is Stone. I Love your music and wish you could keep playing so I could hear you in person one time. Well I hope to see you one day.

My husband and I were due to see Glen Campbell in Birmingham but were unable to do so due to unforeseen circumstances. We are completely gutted that we will be unable to make any of the remaining UK and Ireland dates and would love to hear of more dates (even in Europe) which may be added to the Goodbye Tour.

I attended Glen’s performance in Southend last night. I was really moved by the whole event and to see and hear such an iconic performer. I guess I was always a little young for Campbell, but seeing him live prompted me to buy ‘Ghost on the Canvas’ today. It’s a great album and expanded my knowledge beyond Wichita Linesman! Thanks a lot to Mr Campbell and his family for a great evening! I can really recommend it to anyone.

  • Albrodie

Glen, we would love to see you perform somewhere in Massachusetts or New England in 2012. Thanks.

  • Matt Wilson

My family decided to take a trip in the 90s (I wasn’t even 10 yet) through Kentucky, Tennessee, and Missouri. We were lucky enough to have parents that exposed us kids to music at a young age. This trip included my first concerts… Glen Campbell, Lee Greenwood, Barbara Mandrell. Glen’s concert sticks deeply in my memory to this day. Toward the end of the performance, he tossed us his guitar pick. Us 3 kids scrambled onto the carpet as fast as we could. I still have it… and a great picture of the 3 of us with Glen… as my sister (just a few years old) was screaming to get out of the picture. Would love to get tickets for my parents… :)

  • Jmwxx2

You were my first live concert. It was 1969 and my best friend Gwen’s parents took us for her birthday. We were both 12 years old. She passed away at the young age of 34. One of the best memories I have of her are the two of us at your concert. Please come back to California!

Rochester, NY or Upstate NY! I can’t afford make it out to the Midwest just for a concert. I’ve been listening to you for years and love all your music! You inspired me to learn to play the 12 string.

Denver & Fort Collins loves you Glen!

  • Kevin Kienlein

    Glen,
I appreciate your talent and the inspiration you present to people with alsheimers and other health issues. You are one of my heroes as an entertainer and musician. I always wanted an Ovation Adams like you played on yoru show! Very Spiffy! Bless you on your tour and in future. I am now doing inspirational talks since having a heart & lung transplant In december 2010, I close my speech with Try a Little Kindness… I think this song expresses the way I hope the world works… or should work…
I hope you will play a concert in BC Canada close to where I live. It would be wonderful to see you live.
God Bless, keep spreading your songs and kindness along your way…
    In Admiration & Gratitude,

I saw you on the Ellen show, WOW!. You were one of my father’s favorite performers. He has been deceased for about 25 years. Your music came across the t.v. and I was suddenly taken back to my childhood. I even closed my eyes and just kind of lost myself in your music. I have never had that happen before. Thank you for bringing back my memories. Lots of love and luck!

Wonderful, stunning performance at Newcastle on 29th October. It was an emotional experience for me, and I loved the natural family atmosphere you created. I felt part of your extended family, that night. You are an inspiration to us all. Your family must be so proud of you. I had been told what an incredible guitar player you are, but that performance was pure genius! You made it seem so effortless, and you were loving every moment. We certainly were…and what an magnificent, moving end to the evening with the audience participating in a rendition of Rhinestone Cowboy!

  • Teresa Allan

I I have been a fan of Glen Campbell since Gentle on my Mind was released. I have loved his music over the years and only got to see him for the first time with my friend at Newcastle on the29th Oct. I would have loved to have seen him before, but better later than never.. The concert was very emotional and Glen was everything I expected him to be, warm, friendly and I was amazed by his guitar playing. I hope he gets the strength to deal with his illness and that God gives him and his family the strength to cope with it.

Took my Dad (68) & Daughter (16) to Basingstoke last night where we could say our farewells, emotional to say the least but above all Glen; you’ve still got it mate!

  • Anonymous

I had the privilege to be at the city hall newcastle last night. I was really moved by the whole night, I had a lump in my throat most of the time it was really emotional. I have listened to Glen since I was a little girl and my parents played his music. It was lovely to see such a wide age group in the crowd – with people bringing their young children and grandchildren – Glen, your family are also so talented and your voice is still amazing – Thank you Glen I will always remember last night.

  • Jaspusa

please come to cleveland Ohio !!!!

  • Renee Joi

Glen, I was so fortunate to see you as a little girl. I vividly remember sitting on my fathers shoulders and listening to you sing “Rhinstone Cowboy” and being inspired by how effortless you made playing the guitar look. You had your rhinestone suit on and I was star struck!

I was an only child and quite lonely, so I spent a lot of time in my room by myself. Not too long after the concert, my mom walked into my room and caught me kissing you on your “Southern Nights” album cover. It’s funny now, but I thought I would die at the time.

Many, many times I’ve loved hearing your music, whether it was with my ear pressed up against those big honkin’ speakers we used to have, or on a road trip, or while I watched the vinyl spin.

I’ll echo what someone else here said….
Those of us who know The Lord know where we’re going. I look forward to knowing you then.

In the meantime, PLEASE come to Washington state!

You and your family are in our prayers… we love you!

    • RuthM

A lot of us grew up “in love” with Glen.

  • Clive Garlow

    Glen,

What is there to say? I am so full of appreciation of you and your musical works over so many years (I am 68 years old). I have been there with you musically as you have been there for me. I have never been one to join fan clubs. It was simply enough to enjoy your talented guitar playing and your songs. At this age, many of our musical idols have left us with me never having said “thank you.” Not this time! Glen, I truly hope that a simple “thank you” says it all. In my Native tongue (Mohawk), the word “nia:wen” can best be decribed as a one word prayer to Creator, thanking Him……for you.

Since 1996, I have been a volunteer radio announcer/DJ for a community Native radio station here in Ontario, Canada just a few hours east of Toronto. During my tenure, there were many occasions as you can appreciate, for me to include you in my playlist. There were/are just so many tunes by Glen Campbell to include in my show. You are as much at home on the pop charts as you are on the C&W charts. Your beautiful music had no real boundaries to the discerning ear. None! One song in particular, I had great fun in introducing to my listeners and…..it was a COVER! “It’s Only Make Believe” originally by Roy Orbison. Beautifully done and I’m sure Roy would agree. What a gem! I told my listeners that, in my opinion, better than Roy himself. Got some flack from some listeners for that (in fun) but I stand by my opinion every time I play it.

If I could give you a song in return for all the beautiful songs you have given me over so many years, I would give you “Emily Remembers” by a wonderful Canadian artist, Shirley Eikhard. I hope this reaches you somehow and that you can acquire it. Glen, you may not be able to remember some day, but please know this; the legions of people who’s lives have been touched by you (in many cases, so very deeply), we….we promise to remember for you.

Thank you too, for your thoughtfulness in giving us “Ghost On The Canvas.”

    Hold on hope.

    Nia:wen

    Ona
(because there is no word for “goodbye” in our Mohawk tongue, this means; “until our paths come together again”).

We saw Glen Campbell last night in Nottingham, a fantasic show and he was well supported by his three children and musical director. I lost my mother in 2003 to this illness and in those days the illness was not spoken about, but it is now coming to the fore with people in the media talking about it in both the USA and the UK. I would recommend that people see Glen Campbell and this may help people understand the illness.
    A great show .

  • Ineserf

Look at all these Glen Campbell tour dates! Impressive.

  • Kbbeirne

When my Mom passed away in 1968, my Dad got into Glen’s music and so did I…….You helped ease his pain and mine as well even though I didn’t realize it at the time……..I got into so many different genres of music in the ensuing years and sort of forgot about Glen until my Dad passed away in 2005 at which time I rediscovered one of the best singer/performers that America has ever produced…..somewhere in mid 2006 I bought all of Glen’s early disks and remember vividly listening to them on my journey from New Jersey to D.C. to visit my son at American U…….That trip and Glen’s music will stay in my heart forever……thank you so much for the joy your music has given me for the past 40 years and will continue to give me through my dotage…..God bless you Glen Campbell, the joy you have given so many will live forever…….to the Campbell family, your pain is immense but the joy and pride you will ultimately feel in being part of Glen’s life should bring a smile at the thought of this great man for as long as you live…..God bless you all and may joy crush sadness in your lives, always……thank you for the music and the memories!

  • JaredVaughn81

    Glen,

Thank you for your music…and what you have meant to so many lives. You’re like an old friend who has always been there…and its hard to imagine our American Pop Culture without you…but yet you will always be there. My heart is full.

    God’s Blessing,
    Jared

  • Stephanie

    Glen,
Like the others who have posted here, I became a big fan when I was a little shaver (I just turned 50). I was actually “in love” with you! I even tried to make my bangs look like yours did!
We (my family) had your Christmas album (the one with “Little Toy Trains” and “Little Altar Boy”), which we played to death (but still have). A few years ago, I went on a search to find a CD of that album, and ended up paying around $40 to purchase one from somebody overseas. So many things have changed over the years, but listening to it brings back such fond memories of Christmas and a simpler time when we were kids–it just wouldn’t be the same Christmas without it.
I rejoiced with the angels when you accepted Christ, and am glad that while you were able, you chose Him.
I, along with millions of others, will miss you, Glen, but I know I will see you when we praise Him in heaven.
    With love from a sister,
    Stephanie

    Glen,
I first discovered your music when I was nine and Gentle on My Mind was released. I loved your voice and was mesmerized by your guitar playing. I remember staring at the screen when you were on television, trying to figure out how you made those magical sounds emerge from your guitar. I began lessons that same year. I’m 53 now, and after retiring from the classroom, I am working as a guitar teacher. I play out locally and at weddings and special events. It is a dream come true, and it all began in 1967 with the beauty of your music.

Through the years, I’ve been lucky to see you perform many times. You were gracious enough to call me backstage with my parents when I was young on several occasions. You encouraged me to practice, to find my own voice as a player, and to explore music of all genres. You have no idea what your words meant to me. My late parents admired you so much, and they were grateful for the impact you had on my life.

My father had Alzheimers and I lost him in January, 2011. When I first heard your diagnosis, it crushed me. I didn’t think I could attend one of your shows, knowing it would be farewell after a lifetime spent listening to your music. It’s taken time for me to remember that this won’t be farewell. For those of us with faith, we know that what we must endure in this life is temporary. We will be blessed with your voice and talent again, as we rejoice together one day. I know you have that faith, and I see the same joy in your face as you sing today that I saw so many years ago – the love of music that inspired me to play as well.

Glen, you inspired me to find my own voice as a guitarist. Whatever talent I may have as a musician today is due in no small part to you. Thank you for inspiring that nine year old girl, for encouraging me, and for living the lesson that while we aren’t perfect, we are forgiven. I’ll attend a final show and I know that I’ll still be in awe of your playing, wondering if I’ll ever be a fraction of the player you are, just as I did in 1967.

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
    And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

I became a Glen Campbell fan in 1967 when his first bih hit Gentle on my mind made it’s debut & since then I have followed his career ever since. When he turned to drugs & drinking he career was put on hold foe some time. When I saw his Live from Sioux Falls South Dakota dvd he was welcomed back with open arms and it really showed he was back on top once again. With age & his slowly not remembering very much anymore you start to thinking is it because of his drinking/drug use ? To be really honest with you “I don’t think so ” Never the less he will always be my idol when it comes to listen & watch him play almost any instrument he can put his hands on and do it ever so gracefully. Glen if you are reading this Pleas come to the Ameristar Casino in North Kansas City MO one last time so I can send you off with a standing ovation, You reall deserve it. I am so honored to have picture taken with both you & Debby in 2002 @ The Moon River Theatre. May Fod Nless you always and it has been a rel pleasure just listening to your marvelous voice and watch you play that magical guitar..

We enjoyed a concert of yours a few years ago in Sterling Heights, Mi and were looking forward to this tour. Hoping God will give you the ability to continue this tour beyond the dates and cities scheduled. You could call the concerts “God’s Not Through With Me Yet Tour” and give the glory to our Lord, Jesus. We keep you, your family, and others in our prayers.

Love you Glen! Have all the way from when you started! Your voice is magic and it hasn’t changed. I’m so sorry about your having Alzheimers. I attended the Renfro Valley show, with antcipation since May. Renfro Valley is extremely underated-guess you have to be there to know what I’m saying. At any rate, Glen absolutely dominated the night-(no warm up band required in these parts) I have never heard such a strong voice in over 700+concerts I have attended. He was, as well, very humble throughout the night. I will forever be a fan of those songs that stop you in your tracks for just a few seconds in the span of life. Glen has more than one of those. I just saw your performance on Ellen and was saddened to here of your diagnosis. I immediately logged in to see when you were going to be within 200 miles of me. I was ecstatic to see you were going to be in Texas. As I started to get tickets, my daughter pointed out that this month is October and that September has already passed. I literally cried. I would have given anything to see you. I really hope that, when the tour ends in February/ Florida, I really wished that you could do a HBO or Showtime Special performance with a donation hotline for an Alzheimer’s charity (research or patient support), giving everyone a chance to see your last performance, before you retire. Alzheimer’s have robbed our society of so many. I pray they find a cure. I have admired you for your talent and character, but now I admire you even more for your courage, your love of the art. and your dedication to your fans. You touched my heart four decades ago. Please know that you are loved, always have been, always will be, and in the prayers of millions. May God bless you and keep you well.

The new album is such a tale of a life well lived. I grew up listening to Glen Campbell on our HUGE console stereo – he was one of the few that my parents would allow us to listen to being the good Southern Baptists they are :) . We lost my 50 year old sister to frontal lobe dementia one year ago this week. My father is nearing the end stages now. This dementia seems incredibly cruel as one of the first things it takes is your speech. My father and sister both lived for music, singing, and family. Oddly enough, Mom asked me to try to find some Glen Campbell music for Daddy during one of my days of caregiving and I found this new album. I played it for Daddy as we drove up the Blue Ridge. Many times he nodded, smiled softly, and his eyes welled with tears during “Any Trouble”. Thank you Glen, family, friends for making this album.
And if there is ANY way possible to get a little further South during the tour – please do! We’re in South Carolina and somehow I’ll get my folks in some prime seats and make a new memory. Won’t last long for Daddy but the rest of us will never forget it.

  • Rickelson

Loved your voice since 1962 when you guested with the Crickets on “Dont ever change” and been a huge fan ever since “By the time I get to Phoenix”. Seen you many times in Wales. Love your songs as you can so easliy relate them to whatever you are going through at the time. So many memories to keep when the touring stops. Thanks for them all.

  • Mr. Lee

My wife and I saw Glen’s show last night at the Club Nokia in Los Angeles. The house was packed and almost every song brought the house to a standing ovation. Glen’s 3 kids in the band were fine musicians as well as the other band members. Thanks Glen for giving us the opportunity to see and hear you in concert for this farewell tour. We were amazed at your continuing mastery of the guitar. Your voice was great as always and you entertained us well. Please carry our well wishes for the remainder of what looks like a very full tour. You’ll be loved in every country.

    PLEASE come to NY Glen!!!

  • Dorsey Worthington

Glen – I have been a fan of yours since I was 9 years old and you were playing at the Hitching Post in Albuquerque, NM. My grand parents Leo and Louis Carey owned the club. I would give anything to see you play one more time but the closest you will get to me is French Lick, IN and those tickets are sold out. Next closest in Nashville and those are gone as well. I enjoyed your rise to stardom and you are one of the great memories of my childhood. Thank you for all the wonderful music over the years. Good luck on your tour and my prayers are with you,

A few years back, my parents, my sister and I attended a Glen Campbell concert at The Orleans in Las Vegas. While they were casual Glen fans, I was certainly a huge fan. By the end of the show, they were on their feet clapping for more. He totally blew all of us away.
My sister, who happens to work for a major television network, asked me if I wanted to go back stage and meet Glen. I was skeptical. It couldn’t be that easy! As we approached the stage door, my sister pulled out one of her business cards and said, “We would like to say hi to Glen.” Without hesitation, they opened the door and we suddenly found ourselves backstage in a room with about 25 people or so.
Glen entered the room and started to go from group to group to say hello. I couldn’t believe this was actually happening. I was content just to be in the room and watch Glen interact with the folks. I never thought he would walk up to us. Well, he did! We introduced ourselves and proceeded to tell him how much we enjoyed the show. He was very humble in his response. I, just trying to be funny, told him that I was a little disappointed though. He looked shocked and puzzled. I told him it was because he didn’t sing my favorite song. The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. He thorough his head back and sighed and said, “What a beautiful song. Jimmy Webb” He then proceeded to sing it for us! We just stood there. Our jaws open in amazement. Our very own Glen Campbell concert. He sang few lines, smiled, shook our hands and walked away. Neither my sister or I will ever forget that. What a special moment.
Thank you Glen. God bless you.

It has become trendy in recent years to talk about what a cool song “Wichita Lineman” is and how great Glen Campbell’s performance of it is, While I am glad that it is getting such well-deserved recognition, it does bug me that the “Cool” gods waited decades to realize this.

  • Carolyn

My First Album Wichita Lineman…I got it for Christmas. Galveston was my second album, I put it on layaway at our local Hardware store in Panguitch, Utah and made payments on it. What a surprise it was for me, when I got home from summer vacation and there was “Galveston” sitting on my bed, all paid for and ready for my little turntable. I still have both of those Albums and many more of yours, and I am 51 years old. I Love You, Glen Campbell! I always have, and I always will. I grew up with your music surrounding me and I am forever grateful for the “Gift” of you, Glen Campbell, and of Jimmy Webb, and the “Magic” created by the both of you. My world is a more gentle place, because of your music, Glen Campbell. My understanding of love, and of life, and of kindness, came from these treasured moments with you, Glen Campbell. I loved you then, and I love you now. My life is so much “sweeter” because of you. Thank You!

My husband was recently diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer… he (and I-but especially him) have adored Mr. Campbell for decades and have followed him and his music. Ghost on the Canvas I know inspires him each day- every day he listens to the songs before he goes on his daily walks- he is a very private man- but I know the songs touch and leave an imprint on the core of his soul…
We have tickets to the October 6th performance in California. We will be in the very very back but are so thankful we will be able to be there… if you could shout out an ‘hello’ to Jack Totten it would mean so very much… please know that each and every day you ignite a light inside of him to push forward… thank you for all the lives you touched each and every day we are blessed to have you here with us and wish you and your family the very best of life and love…. We saw Glen and his kids last night at the Stafford Centre, a small 1100 seat venue right in Houston’s shadow. Glen’s voice and guitar playing were excellent as usual, and his wit & humor shined through as always. Even at 75 the guy is still the consummate showman and entertainer! His set-list looks to be the same posted below at the Renfro Valley, KY show and the entire house loved each & every note. I will admit, I was wondering if he would sing ‘Houston (Im Comin’ To See You)’ also, being he was right here again. :-)

Being that this was his last time coming through Texas, I am grateful I got to see the Wichita Lineman one last time as he bravely takes on his greatest challenge of all and searches for that Better Place.

Thanks for the music & memories Glen, your music has and will be with me always.

    Forrest City, AR

My wife and I had the privilege of being on the front row recently at Glen’s concert in Forrest City, AR. It simply couldn’t have been any better. Glen’s vocals and guitar playing were outstanding.
Also, his family and others who make up of his band did an awesome job as well.
I was surprised to find they were staying at my motel and I had the honor of sitting with he and his daughter Debbie the next morning in the lobby for cup of coffee.
What an unexpected thrill. I had no idea I would get to meet him. Glen and Debbie were most
gracious. I had my picture made with Glen. I’ve already had it enlarged to an 8×10.
Please go see Glen on this last tour if you have the chance.
    You won’t be disappointed.

Glen Campbell’s show was magical! Campbell joked about having this “memory thing.” This was a brief, bittersweet moment. Being the true entertainer, Glen quickly moved on & continued the magic. There were hundreds waiting for him to speak to them. After a short rest & change of clothes, he was on again visiting with his fans.

    September 17, 2011 Renfro Valley

This was the second time that we saw him at this location, the first was in May 2000. Over the last few years I would look at Renfro Valley’s web site to see if Glen Campbell would be appearing there as I live only 40 minutes from there. I didn’t look for a while but a friends posting about the show on September 13, put me in search mode for the tickets on their site. I lucked out and got two for the floor.

As my wife and I were walking outside before the show, I thought I spotted a familiar face headed towards the theater. We walked over and I was right, there he was. Not only did I get close enough to see him, I got to meet him, get a picture and my wife got him to autograph my CD of “Ghost on the Canvas.”

This show was just as good as the first and knowing that it would be one of the last opportunities to see him in this area made it all the more special. You could tell he was having issues with his illness but I don’t think that mattered to the crowd one bit. He even joked about it several times during the show at the start of a song or between songs.

I have listend to his music since he first started hosting “The Smothers Brothers Summer Show” and moved on to his own show. I have always enjoyed his music and know that I will continue to do so for many years to come.

    • Maryt1101

My Husband and I was at the Renfro Valley show last night also. It was great. I have loved His music for so long. We waited outside after the concert close to the Bus. So glad we did. He came out of the bus and greeted the crowd that was waiting. I got Him to sign an old album we had taken with us just in case he was signing autograph’s. So Happy to be that close and get His autograph. I will cherish it always.

      Mary T.

Sept. 17 – Renfro Valley, KY – Renfro Valley Entertainment Center

“Ladies and gentlemen, tonight the Garden State Arts Center proudly presents Capitol recording star Glen Campbell.” I was twelve years old when I attended my first Glen Campbell concert and my first big-name concert ever. It was July 3, 1969, and my family and I had just missed being on the Glen Campbell “Live” album by one night. Yet, each time I listen to that album, I experience the excitement of that first concert.

As a family, we had become fans of Glen through his television show. Mom fell in love with his boyish good looks and “Dreams of the Everyday Housewife.” Dad, a country singer and guitar player in younger days, was impressed with Glen’s guitar prowess and his showmanship. Influencing my musical tastes was the variety of music Dad listened to and, on those occasions when he would get out his old Gibson, the songs he sang. Therefore, it wasn’t a stretch for this New Jersey boy to become a fan of the man from Arkansas.

When Glen released “That Christmas Feeling” in the fall of 1968, we bought the album as a gift for Mom’s birthday that December. One night while she was out shopping, Dad decided that we would give it a listen before we wrapped it. He surgically sliced open the cellophane and carefully removed the album from its cover. Once we had finished listening, he placed it back in its cover and resealed the cellophane with transparent tape. To this day, I can’t remember if we ever told Mom.

August 13, 1969 and my dad, a fan of the space program, took us to New York City for the tickertape parade honoring the Apollo11 astronauts. We were front row for the ceremony at City Hall. When the returning heroes emerged from the building, the crowd began pushing forward crushing us against a metal barrier. Somehow, Dad managed to rescue us to safety. Although we were relieved that no one got hurt, the disappointment of not seeing the astronauts hung over us until we made our way to Radio City Music Hall and “True Grit.” There was Glen along with John Wayne and Kim Darby to save our day.

By the mid 1980s I was married and living in Colorado with my wife, Bonnie. Glen came to town to perform with the Denver Pops and I took Bonnie to see her first Glen Campbell concert. An appearance in Greely, Colorado however is one that is most memorable. Performing with just a small band and with the beautiful Colorado scenery behind him, Glen talked about filming “True Grit” with John Wayne. The story segued into the movie’s theme song taking me back to 1969 and Radio City.

In September of 1989, and now with a family of my own, we relocated to Northern Kentucky. We didn’t know too many people when we first arrived, but there was one familiar face…Glen Campbell. He was performing just on the other side of the Ohio River at Sawyer Point in Cincinnati. At one-year of age, our daughter Liza was at her first Glen Campbell concert.

Now it’s September 2011 and Glen and I are about to come full circle. Just as he was at my first concert back in 1969, I’ll be attending one of the shows on his final concert tour. On September 17, the night before my 55th birthday, he will be performing at the New Barn in Renfro Valley, Kentucky. Just as my dad had brought his family to see Glen forty-two years ago, I’ll be bringing my family to see Glen.

Throughout my life, no other artist has been so intertwined, a thread that ties that twelve-year-old boy to this fifty-five year old man. I want to be there to thank Glen not only for all the great music but also for his being a part of my life. In his liner notes for the album “Ghost on the Canvas”, Glen writes “In some ways, it’s a musical biography. But hopefully you’ll find a little bit of yourself in there, too.” I have. Glen, you and your family are in my prayers.

I traveled all the way from Lubbock, TX to Forrest City Arkansas to see Glen. My Father was a musician and was born in ’41 so I grew up listening and playing Glen’s song with my Father. Unfortunately I never was able to play on stage with my Father but seeing Glen play with 4 of his children really got to me. I was able to get my picture made with Debby and then later with Ashley and the cool Norway Bass player. The entire night was so fun and brought back so many memories of my Dad. I wish my Father was living so he could have went to the concert with me. It was amazing and all of the people I spoke with in Forrest City were very genuine and welcoming. God Bless Glen, his wife and his family for making last night amazing. His wife is very brave and doing a good thing by letting us see Glen play one last time ( and for me the first). People really can find true love even at 46. What a cool story about his past 30 years.

    • Pete_gong

Marty… I made a special trip to that concert as well. It was memorable for me and I will always remember Glen as well as the people that was at that concert.

Thanks to Glen for a wonderful evening last night in Forrest City, and for the chance to share with him at the meet-and-greet how much his music and influence has meant to me in my own career through the years. I hope he enjoyed the fun story about the time that his dad and I accidentally held up the start of one of his shows! I also hope he calls our mutual friend Jimmie Rodgers one day soon (writer of “It’s Over,” on the “Gentle On My Mind” album.) Jimmie, like all of us, wish him only the best. I love this guy like a brother, and I want him to live forever.

Glen enjoyed your Forrest City Arkansas show you were awesome but, I could not be more disapointed in the way you treated the fans waiting for you outside. You were in your home state 9 states came in to see you and you left thru another entrance not the backstage door. Even your tour mgr told me to be there after the show. There was not a large crowd. Im sorry I feel you could of at least told us you were not coming out. Your kids even told us to hold on. It was on my bucket list to meet you as well as some other fans out there. Sorry Glen

My husband & I are looking forward to tonight’s show in Forrest City, AR. We’re heading down from Memphis. I grew up listening to Glen and have fond memories of sitting on my parents’ den floor staring at the Wichita Lineman album cover & the blue album cover with Bobbi Gentry. I will have an extra ticket available because my best friend bailed out on going to the show due to all of a sudden getting sick. 2 copies of Glen’s new cd arrived from Amazon yesterday, and it is a stunningly beautiful collection of music. There were segments of music which brought tears to my eyes & others which made the hair on my arms stand straight up. The guitar solos which close out the last song were so gorgeous—there really are no words to describe them. God bless you and your family, Glen.

Saw the first show in Biloxi, MS and the show was incredible and am planning on being at the Silver Springs show in February. What a national treasure Glen Campbell is and what talent there is in his hands playing the guitar. God bless Glen Campbell!

hoping for Chicago-area date after all the UK dates. Loving the record so much. God bless.

Glen – have been a Fan since the Good Time Hour was on TV. I was only 8 but I never missed a program. Thank you for all continued dedication to your music.

Been a fan for most of my life. Saw you in Biloxi (sent a devotional book to Kim), planning to see you in Renfro Valley. Your music has been so much a part of my life. Loving the new album. Hope your health allows you to continue on the Goodbye Tour for a long time.

  • Heathe

thinking of traveling MANY hours to see Glen. His music means so much to me, but it is really only one song that would compel me to travel so far. Does anyone know if Still Within the Sound of My Voice is on the setlist?

    • MecEng255

I would highly recommend you travel the distance. My wife and I drove 300 miles one way to the show and it was worth every minute. I hope Glen’s sells out every show and gets a number one for his new CD which is really very good. I think there are a couple songs on the new album that will bring Mr. Campbell very close to No. 1 if not actually there. You will enjoy this.

  • Jazzbass12

New album is outstanding. I grew up listening the Glenn and have fond memories of watching his tv show with the family as a kid. I hope he comes to Boston. I wish the legend only the best.

  • lin

Glen – I was at your show in Moncton, N.B. Canada – you were terrific. Loved to hear you singing with your children. It was a wonderful show, and I got such a kick out of you trying to pronounce ‘Moncton’. (It’s ‘Monk-ton) You are an incredible performer. I saw you years ago in Boston Garden in 1970. You’ll always be my favorite singer….have truly always cherished your music. God bless you, dear.

  • kylie

Please consider making a tour stop in Holmdel, NJ (Garden State Arts Center, where you recroded a live album back in 1968-1969- now known as the PNC Bank Arts Center), the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ, the Community Theatre in Morristown, NJ or the State Theatre in New Brunswick, NJ. Your “Ghost in the Canvas” album CD is excellent and great listening.

It’s a real shame that your final tour does not bring you back to New Zealand. I went to your concert hear in Auckland a couple of years ago and it was one of the best live concerts I’ve ever been to. Absolutely awesome singing.

Hey, Glen, just wanted to post, here, how much of a fan I am of yours. I’ve been a big fan of yours since 1982, even though I remember watching you on TV, many years earlier, back when you made appearances on the Smothers Brothers Show, as well as your own show that followed – The Goodtime Hour. I, myself, am a musician. I play several instruments, but my two primary instruments are the saxophone and steel guitar. So, I can really relate to all of your stories, back when you, yourself, were coming up, playing in some “not-so-hip” dives (the occasional bar fight, etc.) Yet, though, I wouldn’t trade though days for anything. That was one of the ways I “cut my teeth,” musically. The only way I can really express to you my appreciation of all your talents is to say a BIG THANKS to you for the following: your stories of playing in your uncle’s band in Albuquerque, and other bands to follow, the video clip of you on Youtube singing “San Antonio Rose” in 1956 (I guess that was on the TV show in Albuquerque that you made appearances on with your uncle Dick Bills Band); you having the courage to move to Los Angeles in 1960 (the year I was born – LOL!) to try your hand as a session musician (which you accomplished very well); your brief stint with The Champs in 1961; for releasing “Turn Around, Look at Me” (also in 1961); for singing the doo-wop tune “Desire” with the Trophies (you, Ricky Nelson, Jerry Fuller and can’t think of the other guy’s name – oh, was it Jerry’s brother?); for releasing “The Miracle of Love” and “Prima Donna” (two numbers before you “hit it big”); all of your appearances on Star Route (1963) and Shindig (1964, 65); your version of the Faron Young tune, “Going Steady” and your “lightning-fast” picking on “My Window Faces the South,” both on Star Route; your version of Elvis’s “Surrender” on Shindig, as well as the many other numbers you performed on Shindig with Leon Russell and the other house band members (boy, do I love Youtube!!!); your appearance in the movie, “The Cool Ones,” (1967) singing “It’s Just One of Those Things”; your many accomplishments as a studio musician with “The Wrecking Crew” (of Phil Spector fame) – to include your guitar work on Nat King Cole’s “Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer,” Frank Sinatra’s “Strangers in the Night,” the wild 12-string guitar picking you did on Burl Ives’ “Holly Jolly Christmas”, your work on the Beach Boys’ “Pet Sounds” album (including “Good Vibrations” and “God Only Knows”) – the list goes on and on; your brief work as a member of the Beach Boys, filling in for Brian Wilson (I can only find pictures of you with that group, but I wish there were video clips of you, as well, with the Beach Boys); your big hits, Gentle on my Mind,” “By the Time I get to Phoenix,” “Galveston,” “Honey Come Back,” “Where’s the Playground, Susie?,” your cover of Conway Twitty’s “It’s Only Make-Believe,” “Rhinestone Cowboy,” “Southern Nights,” “Can You Fool,” etc., etc.; your TV show in the early 1980′s; your appearances on Ralph Emery’s “Nashville Now,” back in the 80′s; your appearance at the “V.P. Fair” (now called “Fair St. Louis”) in 1984 – under the Arch (I was there watching your show, right after Helen Ready warmed up for you – I live in the St. Louis area, on the Illinois side); your appearance at the Fabulous Fox Theatre in St. Louis in 1988; your appearance on Sally Jessie Raphael’s show in 1989; your appearance on “Rick Dee’s “In to the Night” show in (I believe) 1991; as well as the other TV shows and CD’s your were involved with in more recent years! Oh, and of course, I can’t for get your induction into the Musicians Hall of Fame (recently), and your induction into Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005! Well-deserved, but long overdue, in my opinion. Glen, I’m sure I’ve left out many other aspects of your career that I admire, but just wanted to convey the ones that stick out in my mind the most – the ones I’ve just stated, here. I am greatly looking forward to your show in St. Charles, MO on Sept. 9, 2011, as my wife and I will be there watching you. So, so glad you are doing a farewell concert! I hope that, maybe, you will be greeting some of the fans after your show because it would be an honor to meet you! Hang in there with the Alzheimers thing! You (along with your family) displayed much courage in going public with it. I know that you will face that challenge with grace and dignity! I can relate to that because my father is currently dealing with it (unfortunately, in runs in my family, on his side, primarily) Take care, and God bless!

And Uncle Boo????????? Glen’s “Uncle Boo” is being honored with an exhibit in the Musicians Hall of Fame in Nashville. There will be unpublished photos and radio recordings of my Dad (Uncle Boo) and Glen. My Aunt Judy (Boo’s sister and Glen’s Aunt) was married to Dick Bills and was also in the band. Although Dick receives all the credit, I am sure it was his Aunt who was a big stepping stone too.

      • Richard Bills

Hi! Richard Bills here. My Father was Dick Bills. Great to see these tributes to Glen.

    • Jeff Bretz

VERY well said. There is one more song that I personally would add to the above. That would be Witchata Lineman. My father was a lineman. He passed away in April of this year. I listen to that song at least twice a day in memory of my father. I do remember watching the Good Time Hour with my parents. Best of luck to you and your family, Glen. You ARE the real deal! An excellent musician and person.

  • Attorneygirl

Bought tickets for RENO! Have loved Glen’s music since the late 1960s. Wish Glen the best! Taking the California Zepher train from Sacramento to see him. Should be a blast.

  • Jim Meehan

Just glad to have tickets for my daughter and I to catch Glen @ Castlebar Ireland in November. Tks for making the effort Glen and family.

  • Domestikat

Glen, I just wanted to say Thank you! for getting me through a difficult time in my life. When I was 8 years old my father died it was 1971 and he was a lineman for our local electric company Glen he died on the job, when” Wichita lineman ” came out it became my favorite song it will always remind me of my dad still to this day . I hope and pray for you and your family I am a big fan and find you an amazing musician!! I play guitar and always wanted my kids to play an instrument so glad to see your children follow in your footsteps ! sorry to go on but I would love it if you could make a concert stop in my neck of the woods! I live just outside of Atlantic city NJ

  • Simchabl

    And New Hampshire!

Loving your music was a family affair! We had all of your albums when I was growing up. I was so excited when you got your own show – that I got the hiccups! My dad had a wonderful voice. When I was grown & was asked what I wanted for Christmas, it was a cassette of my dad singing your songs. How those songs have been a healing balm for me. After mom died, dad developed dementia but could always sing your songs. I took care of my dad until he died 3 years ago. In a way, your last tour is like a brief reunion with my dad.

Glen, I have faithfully prayed for you since your early days with the Beach Boys. I was so overjoyed to see that you attended the U.M.J.C. in Arizona a few years ago and had given your life back to God.

Kim, my prayers are with you. I know what it’s like to care for someone you love as their mind slips away from time to time. Remember the man you love is still inside that brain somewhere. Though we won’t meet on this earth, I look forward to meeting you both in heaven!

I am so excited about your upcoming concert at Renfro Valley, Kentucky. My sister and I are going to be there. It’s going to be sad though knowing that it will be the last time I will see you in concert. Thank you for making this tour so that your fans can say goodbye.

  • Cheryl McCrory

Glen, I have always been such a big fan of yours and still am. Your music was such a great part of my life growing up. When I got to meet you in Ft. Lauderdale at the Jackie Gleason Inverrary Golf Tournament back in 1972, it was one of the highlights of my life. You were fantastic then and you still are now. Much luv.

Glen, I’ve been a fan for many decades now, and as important as your voice and the songs are to your sound, as a musician myself I loved your guitar playing the most and always waited for your lead shots–always well placed and tasty. A friend of mine played a show on drums for Wayne Newton in Branson, Mo. once and when they finished, they flew to Las Vegas where my friend got to hang out with you and Roy Clark for an evening Newton show. When you introduced yourself to my friend you said “hi I’m Glen Campbell”, and he cracked up and replied “yeah like I dont know who you are!!” He said you guys were a lot of fun to be with. I just found out about the tour and would love to see you in the D.C. area–I actually live in the Va. countryside. As big a star as you’ve been over the years worldwide I bet you would be just as comfortable playing with me and my Culpeper, va. buds in one of our backyard jam sessions. God bless and keep you through your final years Glen and enjoy your tour. Rob Carlysle

Glen – After my mom died and I became a latchkey kid at 5 years old in the early 1970′s, I would listen to your songs on cassette while waiting for my dad to get home in the evening. Thank you for keeping me company. I look forward to your Huntington WV show. Thinking I might bring my dad.
