Hi Glen Campbell,
I listened to you play some songs with a couple of guys on the PNE grounds in Vancouver ,B.C. in 1967 I was working at one of booths at food building and was on my break. I was 15 years old and thought you were totally handsome and your music was awesome. I remember what you said after playing for about a half an hour. You Said “Remember my name I am Glen Campbell and I am going to be famous one day. “Imagine my surprise when I saw you on tv . I said to my mother” I saw this guy on the PNE grounds and he is famous.” I was at one of your performances when you were in B.C. later n and I think that your music is the greatest.
Mr. Campbell — Best wishes. Although about a decade younger than you are, your music in the 60s captured my ear, and was one of the two major influences that moved me to guitar (the other being a guitar-playing uncle and singer that played with The Statlers in high school). How much I enjoyed playing along with your albums as I learned about this remarkable instrument that mortals refer to as ‘a guitar’. Really? That collection of wood & other components (fiberglass, carbon fiber, steel, etc.) has a life of its own, awaiting to be set free by the player. And while played, it is ALIVE! And man, did you set it free!
To you & your family — Godspeed, and rest you well.
Happy birthday Glen. I have been a huge fan for many years. The rhinestone cowboy was my song, so I named one of my showcats the Rhinestone Cowboy, like you he could command the audience and was a Premier cat the ultimate honour. You commanded the audience and held us in your hand made us dream and smile and sometimes cry. A truly all round ultimate showman. God bless and keep you Glen .
Thanks for the many many songs you recorded … from an old rocker / troubadour and weekend warrior …God Bless
Thank you Glen,thank you.
I was 18 or 19 when I first heard “Gentle on my mind”. It never left me.
I always wonder why nowadays singers don’t have songs like this.
I played this song often for my daughters at bed time.
Many thanks to Mr. Campbell for the
long time they have been with me
until now. I am 46 years and heard you the
first time with 18. The best song I’ve
ever heard in my live is the gentle on my mind. I’ll
still love when I am very old. Thank you for your music and your guitar
playing. Much greetings from
by a huge fan
Never met the man..but he’s been hanging around me for half a century..my kids kinda get what I mean.
